GRAND SLAM FISHING TOURS

Wild Alaska Sportfishing

Wild Alaska offers a unique opportunity for fishermen in search of a remote or wilderness experience. We combine the best of small ship cruising with a highly focused, all- inclusive sport fishing trip. We offer serious fishing for the serious fisherman, plus the quiet relaxation and personal service of a small ship cruise. Our cruises are limited to eight guests with only four guests per guided fishing boat.  Virtually everything is included - all you need is your fishing license! This private and personal environment is perfect for couples, families and small groups. What better place to be alone with friends, family or coworkers? No crowds here!

Each day you board our all weather boats with an experienced USCG- licensed guide for full day of fishing. Don’t worry about getting seasick -the sheltered waters of the inside passage seldom become unruly and the norm is to fish on calm or glassy water. Even if the wind does blow, we are always able to find sheltered water.

Since the yacht is our lodge, we are mobile. That’s right, we follow the fish! We aren't tied to any specific location. No waiting for the fish to run near us, or racing to the “hotspots” to beat other lodge boats to the fish. Seldom do we have to run far from our floating home to find fish. This gives us enormous flexibility in choosing when and where to fish. Think of the time you save. More time to spend fishing or experiencing the beauty of the local wildlife.

The diversity of fish and shellfish in this productive oceanic near-shore environment is fantastic. Pursue the five species of Pacific salmon, Pacific halibut, Lingcod and a variety of rockfish.  Rainbow, cutthroat, brook trout, Dolly Varden and Steelhead are also seasonally available in fresh water.  Dungeness crab, spot prawns and clams are among some of the favorite quarries.

Typically, the mother ship relocates each day to a new and secluded moorage while you are out fishing. Later that day, you return to the Perseverance to clean and process the day’s catch. Although Wild Alaska is conservation minded and promotes catch- and- release whenever practical, we clean, process, vacuum pack and freeze the fish you choose to ship back home. Frozen fish are packed in airline approved wet lock boxes for your flight.

Snap a few pictures of the days “trophies” then feel free to relax, have a cool drink and a delightful dinner. Evenings are reserved for you to rest, explore or fish off the deck of the Perseverance or aboard one of the skiffs.

Amenities
Inside and out, the Perseverance was designed with the outdoor enthusiast in mind. Spacious areas for wildlife viewing, relaxing, sunbathing, dining, and fishing make you feel at home.

Aboard the main deck you immediately appreciate its immense size. Inside you’ll find the galley, dining area, lounge and two forward crew cabins. Outside on the patio deck are tables and deck chairs, a wet bar, barbecue and swim shower. There is tons of room to fish or relax all warmed by overhead radiant heating.

Aft is the swim deck. This private dock provides easy access for launching fishing boats, zodiacs or kayaks- right at water level- or brave the cool waters for some swimming and scuba diving.

Below deck are four spacious staterooms; two queen-sized and two with double bunks. All rooms feature a private shower, sink and potty. A third bunk accompanies the queen rooms for the inclusion of a child or third person.

Up from the main deck is the pilothouse, or wheelhouse. It’s the control center of the vessel and a great place to visit the captain at work or kick back and watch the scenery. Aft of the pilothouse are the captain’s stateroom and additional crew quarters. Behind this you’ll find two Zodiacs stored on chocks next to their hydraulic crane.

A short stairway takes you to the observation deck, sometimes referred to as the flying bridge. This huge area is the perfect place to view wildlife, glaciers and scenery. Relax here on a chaise or deck chair and take in the unobstructed 360- degree view. Count the stars or watch the Northern Lights dance.

The lounge is equipped with a television, DVD, CD, VCR, AM/FM and Satellite radio for your convenience and pleasure

Wild Alaska Dining

This is your Alaskan adventure and we focus on providing the freshest Alaskan menu possible. A hearty breakfast starts the day - waffles and pancakes topped with local berries and fruits
or your choice of hot or cold cereal, traditional egg dishes, bacon or sausages. Hot coffee, tea, juice and milk help fortify you for a full day of outdoor fun or fishing.

Usually, you’ll be out on the water during lunch, so we provide the fixin’s for you to prepare a box lunch. A sandwich bar loaded with meats and cheese, spreads and condiments let you select your favorites. Add a cup of soup, chips, crackers, fruit and dessert treats to keep you energized while fighting the big ones!

If you like Alaskan seafood you’ll love the evening meal! Fresh from the ocean, usually caught the same day, we spoil you with delicacies like broiled salmon, baked halibut, steamed prawns, crab and clams. All you can eat! Or enjoy an occasional specialty from the turf - grilled steaks, chops, chicken and pasta to satisfy every appetite. Ohhh…can you smell the on-deck barbecue now?

Wild Alaska Cruises Activities

Salt and Freshwater Fishing
In addition to our fully guided fishing, spend as much free time as you wish to “scratch that fishing itch.” Each evening we anchor in a quiet and secluded cove or bay that always holds bottom fish, salmon, or both. Fish from the deck of the Perseverance or try your luck from one of the skiffs. Many small streams teeming with fish feed the fjords and inlets of the Southeast. Want to try your hand at some light spinning or fly fishing? We are happy to arrange it. (Brown bears frequent these streams so it’s best to be accompanied by one of our guides.)

Crabbing, Shrimping and Clamming
Hunt for Dungeness crab, spot prawns and clams. We love to show you how it’s done and love even more to show you how really fresh seafood tastes! Enjoy an evening or two with the crew and harvest some of Alaska’s natural bounty.

Kayaking
For those who like a little exercise or want to see Alaska up close, we have several sea kayaks for your use. Paddle into the quiet wilderness and enjoy the sights and sounds of super natural Wild Alaska!

Glacier Viewing
Your cruise takes you to some of the most beautiful places on earth - Alaska’s glacial fjords. You cruise nearer to these ancient geological curiosities than you ever imagined. Their color and majesty defy the imagination and the excitement of experiencing them is beyond compare.

Bear Watching
Bears are everywhere. Your cruise will take you near the islands of Admiralty, where the world’s largest saturation of Brown bears is found, and Kupreanof and Kuiu, where black bears seem to “grow on trees”.

Whale and Sea Lion Watching
If you come to cruise for no other reason than to watch the whales, you’ve struck gold. Southeast Alaska is home to over 1000 Humpback whales during their summer migration. These graceful mammals appear often throughout the cruising pathway. It’s common to see groups of a dozen or more whales feeding, casually migrating or taking a nap. Hear the early morning sounds of whales blowing across miles of flat, calm waters. Have your camera ready for the photo of a lifetime- the astounding spectacle of a 40- ton leviathan breaching! Pods of Orcas frequently pass by offering more exciting photo opportunities, and endangered Stellar Sea Lions gather in rookeries by the hundreds. Watch them play and listen to their boisterous banter. Enjoy the show!

Wild Alaska Fishing Boats

Serious fishermen expect the best and we are proud of our new 2005 Deepwater Wooldridge boats. These offshore all-aluminum boats were custom built for Wild Alaska and are strong, safe and equipped with high tech fishing electronics. A full hard-top design keeps you dry and warm with plenty of room to fish or relax. Each boat is 26' long and 8' 3' wide and powered by a pair of quiet and clean Yamaha 4-stroke outboard motors.

The boats are equipped with Lowrance's newest big screen color sonar and GPS chart plotter. This sonar is the latest in fishing technology and helps keep you on the fish while also providing navigational information. Each boat is fitted with VHF radio and marine radar to assure safe, all- weather operation.
